"A SHRINE TO FINE DINING"

Summer: Dinner 6 nights a week, Tuesday to Sunday, from 6.00pm.
Winter: Dinner 5 nights a week, Wednesday to Sunday, from 6.00pm.

Heritage
This “shrine to fine dining” was built in 1873 and is a precious example of Mountfort’s architecture. The stone work, shapes, stained glass and vaulted timber ceilings create a wonderful ambience and near perfect acoustics. Taking pride of place is the enormous 1871 Pipe Organ which is fully restored and is used to showcase music that includes classical, jazz and blues.

Food and Wine
The A la Carte Menu and all Dinner Menus at the Octagon feature traditional Canterbury fare with a subtle modern twist.

Music
The Octagon showcases “music to dine for”. Old favourites are presented by accomplished musicians in a manner sympathetic to the needs of the diners. Regular performers include musicians of distinction like Doug Caldwell (piano), Natalie Slade (vocals), Stu Buchanan (sax), Richard Hore (organ) and Nola Mills (harmonica). A remarkable instrument featured regularly is the Octagon's 140 year old pipe organ.

The Octagon Live is fast becoming an icon in Christchurch. Popular with both locals and tourists the Octagon offers a fusion of heritage, fine dining and live music that makes for a world class dining experience.
